From my perspective as a student, I like to think of proofreading as a good type of side job for those educated in grammar and punctuation with a keen eye for detail and great time management capabilities. One can find assignments from writers, companies, and students. If I should require the service proofread my book, I would look at the track record of a given person before hiring him/her.
