I’ve been watching the UFC for a few years, but I only recently started making predictions and was immediately confused by the odds. I see numbers like -185 and +155, but I don’t understand what they mean or how to use them to make decisions. Could someone please explain it to me in simple terms?

I also want to learn how to analyze the market for the method of victory. There are options like knockout (KO) and submission, but I don’t know how to analyze fighters’ styles properly to make solid predictions. For example, if one fighter is known for jiu-jitsu and the other is good at defending on the ground, how does that affect the odds? Is it a good idea to make predictions on the method of victory, or is a simpler straight prediction better? I also want to learn how to properly factor in previous fight statistics.

For the first month, I stared at the numbers, but I didn’t understand anything. I lost a lot of GC on Sportzino predictions. Simply put, a negative number shows how much you need to invest to win 100, while a positive number shows how much you’ll win if you invest 100. Once I understood that, everything clicked instantly. As I mentioned, I use the ufc lines on Sportzino. They have detailed explanations on how to read American odds right on the page, which really helped me in the beginning. I wouldn’t recommend starting with win-method predictions unless you have a good understanding of the fighters’ styles. Once, I saw that a fighter with a wrestling background was taking the fight to the ground and that his opponent had weak ground defense. I predicted a submission, and it worked out perfectly. But that kind of understanding comes from watching dozens of fights and reading tons of articles.
