I’m seriously considering buying a used XF that I found at a decent price and it looks absolutely stunning inside and out, but I keep getting warned by friends and family that I’m going to regret it because Jags have a reputation for being in the workshop all the time. I’ve done a bit of research and it seems like the newer models with the Ingenium engines are supposed to be much more reliable than the older ones, but I still can’t shake the feeling that I might be walking into a money pit. The car I’m looking at has about 80,000 kilometers on it and seems to have been well maintained with service history, but I know that with any luxury car, things can get expensive fast when they start going wrong. I’m not really in a position where I can just throw money at repairs without thinking, so I want to make sure I have a plan in place for maintenance and potential issues before I commit to buying. I’ve been looking around for a specialist who really knows these cars and can give them a proper pre-purchase inspection to check for any hidden problems that I might miss myself. I’m hoping to find a place that offers a quality Jaguar workshop in Abu Dhabi that I can easily get to if I end up buying the car. Does anyone here own a newer Jaguar and can tell me honestly whether the reliability reputation is deserved or if it’s just people repeating old stories from decades ago? I really love the look and feel of the car but I don’t want to make a decision I’ll end up regretting financially down the line.
