Just moved to Dubai and my car is making a noise I can only describe as “expensive”
Landed here about three weeks ago and shipped my old BMW over from the UK and of course after a week of sitting in a container and then being driven across town in forty degree heat it’s developed this whirring sound from the engine bay that changes pitch when I turn the steering wheel and I’m immediately regretting not just selling it back home and buying something locally because I have zero idea where to take a fifteen year old straight six that needs someone who actually knows what a VANOS unit is without charging me like I’m getting a service done on a spaceship. I’ve been asking around the office and everyone has a different guy they swear by and it’s honestly overwhelming trying to figure out who’s legit and who’s just going to shrug and say “German cars mate” while handing me a bill that makes my eyes water and then the noise comes back a week later. I was up late doom scrolling through local car groups and someone mentioned a spot that seems to cover a lot of European stuff and I ended up on their site at https:www.royalprinceautocare.com and it looks promising enough that I might just bite the bullet and book it in because I can’t keep driving around with the radio turned up pretending I don’t hear it and hoping it fixes itself like that ever actually works. Anyone else gone through the nightmare of finding a trustworthy shop right after moving here or do you just pick one and pray to the automotive gods that you chose wisely?
